Enjoying Warm Soba!
Trying Toji Soba at Soba-dokoro Gassho
For lunch, I stopped by Soba-dokoro Gassho, a soba restaurant housed in a large, charming building nearby.

It was my first time trying “toji soba,” a traditional way of eating soba in this area.

“Toji” means “to immerse,” and the dish is eaten by placing chilled zaru soba into a small basket, then swishing it in a hot pot like shabu-shabu before eating.

You swish the soba around in the hot pot like shabu-shabu, like this.

Being able to enjoy the warm soba together with plenty of vegetables made it a deeply satisfying dish.
I also had some tempura with it, and that was delicious too.
