Visiting Golden Week Special Night Viewings
Kodaiji Temple
I headed to Kodaiji Temple, where a special Golden Week night viewing was being held.
I climbed the steep slope up to Kodaiji. It has a lovely atmosphere, but the steps are high and the ground is dark, so watch your footing.
The night viewing is very well lit, so it’s easy to take photos. This is a teahouse called Ihoan, and it has such a cute appearance that it looks like something out of a storybook.
The karesansui dry landscape garden in front of the Hojo is lit up and even set to music, so it feels like a show, haha.
As you can see, even the stones are glowing…!
The pond at night, reflecting the green maple leaves, was lovely too.
The weather was nice, so I could see the moon as well.
Being able to stroll through a bamboo grove like this at night made the whole night viewing feel totally worthwhile.
I managed to have matcha in the teahouse just before last order. I was a little worried it might keep me awake, but it was fine, haha.
