Back in Kyoto, and back again at The Westin Miyako Kyoto
Getting there by the free shuttle bus
This was my second trip to Kyoto this year, and once again I chose The Westin Miyako Kyoto. A free shuttle bus from the hotel is one of the big advantages of staying at a large property.
After about 20 minutes on the bus, we arrived. I’m back, Miyako Hotel Kyoto!!
Our room was a Junior Suite again, just like last time
This time too, I received a Platinum upgrade and was assigned a Junior Suite.
！？！？
Even though it was on a different floor, the room interior was exactly the same, which was so funny I laughed. I really like how easy the sink area and the bathroom are to use.
One big plus here is that the bath comes with an automatic water-filling function, and they also provide a stool and bucket for the washing area. I was impressed that the hotel cares not just about how it looks, but also about usability.
A walk through the Kasuien Garden and the Aoi-den Garden
Whenever I come to The Westin Miyako Kyoto, I always end up wanting to come here: the Kasuien Garden and the Aoi-den Garden.
The last time I visited was in winter, so seeing them during the season of fresh greenery gave them a completely different atmosphere, and it really let me appreciate the gardens all over again.
Apparently, the moss-covered part represents a sake flask and tray, and the waterfall beyond it is meant to be the sake.

The waterfall flows so gently, and the whole place has such a lovely atmosphere. I want to stay here someday… (How many times have I said that now?)
From there, I walked through the Aoi-den Garden and headed back to the hotel. The elevation changes are pretty intense, so it feels like a little hike.
Just a little drink in the lounge
Before heading out for dinner, I took a break during cocktail time at the club lounge. The last time I came, it was served as a set meal, but it had gone back to a buffet format.
That said, the moment cocktail time started, the rush of people swarming the food was so intense that it felt beyond capacity, and I found myself thinking a set-meal style might actually be better if it’s going to be like this… (lol)
Kyoto mornings start early
Starting with the bath
I was out drinking until late and missed the last admission time for the bath (22:00), so the bath I’d been looking forward to had to wait until the next morning. I went right at opening time, 6:30, and there was already a line (lol).
I chose the breakfast buffet
After the bath, I went for the breakfast buffet. Apparently they serve champagne in the club lounge, but the buffet was too tempting to resist. Even though I got to the venue around 7:50, there was still a wait (2 groups). Everyone wakes up way too early…
I ate all sorts of things, but my favorites were the somen noodles in flavorful dashi broth and the onigiri made right in front of me. It really hit the spot.
Kasuien Garden again after breakfast
After breakfast, I went back to see the Kasuien Garden again on a post-meal walk. It looked beautiful once more with the morning sun shining on it.
The waterfall was sparkling too.
It was very convenient that I could complete the checkout process from the room, and they even came up to collect my luggage for delivery. The service was incredibly attentive.
Then I set off for sightseeing on day two. To be continued…
