My Kyoto trip started with a hotel stay the night before

I stayed at sequence KYOTO GOJO, a hotel by Mitsui Fudosan. It’s just one subway stop from Kyoto Station and only a short walk from Gojo Station.

Check-in isn’t done at a traditional front desk with staff in person—it’s self-service at this table. Then, if you register your face as your room key during check-in, you can get around the hotel using facial recognition.
There are cameras and displays at each room entrance and at the spa. ↓
The recognition accuracy was pretty high, and it hardly ever failed. The hotel’s heavy use of IT throughout the property kind of reminded me of Henn na Hotel.
You can control things in the room with a tablet, and you can even check out on it, which was super convenient!
Simple guest rooms
The guest rooms are neat, streamlined, and very simple. With gray as the main color, the atmosphere felt very calm.
The bathroom had only a shower and no bathtub. But since there’s a large public bath, no problem.
Relaxing away the fatigue in the large public bath
Next, I headed to one of this hotel’s main draws: the large public bath. There are two types—“THE BATH,” which has a large tub, and “THE SOUNA,” which has a steam sauna room—and they rotate daily between men and women.
That night, the men’s side was THE BATH. I was happy because I wanted to soak in a tub that evening!
Inside, there weren’t any standard washing stations—just shower booths, and no mirrors—so while it looked stylish, I did wonder a bit about the practicality, haha.
The hot-stone bench also wasn’t all that warm, so it didn’t really heat me up, and I was left wondering what the best way to use it actually was…
I also used THE SOUNA the next morning, but personally, I felt the steam sauna would have been better if it had been a little hotter.
