An Unexpected Stop on the Way to Canal City Hakata

After mentaiju, I set off on a short walk toward what would finally be the highlight of my Hakata trip:

Canal City Hakata

As I headed there, the first thing that suddenly caught my eye was

Kihinkan Old Public Hall of Fukuoka Prefecture

です。

Since I was there anyway, I decided to go inside. (Admission fee required.) The interior is two stories, and you make your way through each room at a relaxed pace. Compared with the exterior, though, it felt surprisingly plain and tidy to me, haha.

The tower projecting out toward the river was especially striking.

The ground floor was operating as a restaurant.

The large river flowing right in front of the VIP Hall is

the Naka River

There was a sightseeing boat making its way along it.

The riverside had a laid-back atmosphere, but most of the places that caught my eye were adult entertainment spots, so I really felt, ah, so this is Nakasu… Hakata is amazingly open about it, haha. And as I kept walking, Canal City Hakata finally came into view. Oh, sorry—Canal City Hakata will be in the next article. To be continued…
