Crossing the Kanmon Strait!

Taking the Kanmon Ferry

After soaking up the atmosphere of Mojiko, I took the Kanmon ferry across to Shimonoseki.

I was staying at a hotel in Shimonoseki that day. Soon after buying my ticket, it was already time to depart, so there was no unnecessary waiting around—but by the time I stepped out onto the second-floor deck, all the seats were already taken.

The boat rocked more than I had expected, and the sea spray reached us too, so standing on the deck made for quite a thrilling ride.

The stairs also felt a little scary to go down while everything was rocking, so I couldn't make my way to the lower floor during the crossing and ended up just standing on the deck the whole time, haha.

Setting Foot in Yamaguchi Prefecture

Before I knew it, we had arrived at the port in Shimonoseki. From the port, I took a local bus to my hotel.

On the Shimonoseki side too, there is a super high-rise building with an observation deck.

If I have time, I'd like to stop by later.

Next, I'll be checking into my hotel in Shimonoseki!
