Let’s grab something delicious before heading home
Kakuchi at MELKED
We were taking the bus to the airport from Kokura Station, so before getting on, we stopped for a light bite near the station.
The first place we headed to was a shop called MELKED inside the station building.
Apparently, Kitakyushu is actually the birthplace of kakuchi. (Kakuchi is a style of drinking where alcohol is served at the counter of a liquor store, somewhat like a paid tasting of the bottles they sell. Usually, food is limited to simple snacks, if anything.)
When I said, “I like fragrant, sweet sake,” they put together three kinds for me to try.

They were all delicious, and I was really happy with them. I ended up buying one of my favorites to take home.
