A Stay at The Westin Osaka

The Westin Osaka

Beyond the Trees of Grand Green

I never really got around to introducing the hotel where I stayed, so now that things have settled down a bit, I’m picking back up with the stay report I had left unfinished.

I stayed at The Westin Osaka in late April.

Thank you, Marriott Bonvoy. I used a free night reward.

The north side of Umeda, known as Umekita, has been dramatically transformed by Grand Green Osaka. Even the Umeda Sky Building, which used to stand beyond a dim rail yard, is now seen beyond the greenery.

The newly opened lawn area was also bustling with people, and it really felt like a major new urban space had been created.

If I had to compare it to Tokyo, it felt a bit like Shinjuku Central Park had been moved over to the area around the Keio Plaza Hotel.

Afternoon Tea in the Lounge

Since I was with my parents, who were experiencing a hotel club lounge for the first time, we checked into the hotel in time for afternoon tea.

I think they were both pleased.

The city view of Osaka from the lounge was wonderful as well.

From above, we could even look out over the occasionally talked-about sight of an expressway passing through a building.

A Room with a Great View

Adding an Extra Bed

There aren’t any rooms that can accommodate three people, so we added an extra bed to a twin room.

It does feel a little cramped, but at hotels like this, the options for staying with three or more people are pretty limited.

The Bathroom Facilities Are All in One Room

The bathroom area felt a little dated.

The toilet and bath are in the same space.

There was a bathtub as well.

On to Cocktail Time…

Before long, it was cocktail time. A full assortment of dishes was served first on a plate.

Since rice was included too, it felt less like bar snacks and more like a light dinner.

A Beautiful Breakfast

Eggs Benedict with Scattered Petals

We also had breakfast at The Westin Osaka. Overall, I got the impression that many of the dishes used edible flowers. Even the Eggs Benedict was garnished with petals.

We headed out again early that morning, so we hardly spent any time at the hotel, but my first stay at The Westin Osaka was a satisfying one.
