Next I headed to Tōdai-ji, famous for the Great Buddha of Nara. I think it had been about 20 years since I last came here, on a middle school class trip…
There are several times more deer here than at Kasuga Taisha. Maybe they like it because it's warm and sunny.
The Great Buddha Hall is enormous. Was it always this big?? It really made me realize how unreliable my memory is, haha.
The Great Buddha also felt far larger than the one I had in my memory, and it left me thinking all over again just how incredible it is. Visiting again after 20 years was definitely not pointless.
After a short walk around the pond, I headed to my next destination.
