Wrapping Up with Akashiyaki

My First Akashiyaki in Kobe

After taking in all those storybook-like sights—the Hotel Monterey and the Western-style houses—I wrapped up the day with akashiyaki.

It may not have been part of that storybook world, but the akashiyaki, which I was trying for the first time, was delicious. The moment I walked in, they immediately asked, “How many portions?” The menu consists of akashiyaki only. First, they bring out the broth and condiments.

Then the akashiyaki arrived. It seems one serving is 10 pieces.

You dip them in the sauce with condiments and eat them.

They were piping hot and delicious. If I had to compare them to something, I’d say they were like a baked chawanmushi… After I’d eaten my fill, I left Kobe behind. The end.
