Heading to Canal City!

A canal town lit up at night

After taking a short break in my room, I headed out into the city of Fukuoka. My first stop was Canal City, which I reached by walking across the river.

This had been a place I’d admired since childhood, and although I had visited once as an adult, this was my second time here.

The view from the entrance was breathtaking. It made me realize again that because this canal sits right beside the river and creates the illusion of continuing from it, the whole place really feels like "another river town."

Watching the Canal Aqua Panorama “Imagination”

I wasn’t planning to do any shopping, so I wandered around Canal City for a bit and then waited in the fountain plaza.

When the time came, a large crowd gathered and enjoyed the fountain show. The performance was the Canal Aqua Panorama “Imagination.”

The windows of the Hyatt Regency behind the fountain were used as a screen, making for a powerful production.

In the finale, rainbow-colored fountains shot high into the air, and it was absolutely beautiful.
