Still taking in Nara’s history
Kofuku-ji Temple
My next stop was Kofuku-ji Temple. Parts of the temple grounds are currently under construction as the site undergoes maintenance and improvements.
This is Chuko-do Hall, a building whose restoration was completed in 2018. I had somehow imagined it would be darker in color, but it was actually vermilion.

This is Toko-do Hall and the five-story pagoda. The pagoda is currently undergoing repair work, so you can’t get close to it. Toko-do Hall is probably closed because of that as well.

This unusual-looking building is Nanen-do Hall. Seen from above, it has an octagonal shape.

I’d been sightseeing since the morning, and by now it was past 1 p.m. I was definitely getting hungry, so I decided to stop for lunch here. To be continued…
