A Fresh Start: Himeji at Night

Let’s Go Eat Himeji Oden!

During a pre-business-trip overnight stay, I headed out into Himeji for the evening. This time I went to a place called Jigoro Kohiro.

Ta-da—Himeji oden. Oden is a Japanese hot pot dish of ingredients simmered in broth, and this local style is enjoyed with the aroma of ginger.

And then there was Himeji’s local specialty, hinepon! It’s made from hens that no longer lay eggs, so the meat has a very firm, chewy texture.

There were lots of light, refreshing dishes, and everything was absolutely delicious.

After dinner, I took a short walk around the area, and the station building’s outer wall was impressively flashy, to say the least (lol).

From a sort of observation space in front of the station, I could see Himeji Castle straight ahead, and it really showed how cherished it is by the local community.

Anyway, I’ve got work again tomorrow, so I’ll keep the nightlife in check and call it a night.

And that wraps up this pre-business-trip overnight stay.
