Trying Himeji’s Famous Conger Eel at Yamayoshi

Trying Himeji’s Local Specialty: Conger Eel!

So, here I am sightseeing in Himeji. I arrived at 2 p.m., but I resisted the urge to eat a bento on the Shinkansen because I wanted to have conger eel in Himeji instead. The place I headed to was Yamayoshi.

This restaurant had the “Yamayoshi Set,” a meal made for people like me who selfishly want both eel rice and grilled conger eel, so I ordered it without hesitation!

And there they were in front of me: two kinds of conger eel!!

This one was soft and fluffy.

And this one was nicely charred over charcoal, with a satisfying bite to it.

Of course, both were delicious!!! I was really enjoying myself, haha.
